This paper aims to address the key issues surrounding sensor use, hazard detection, Arduino
applications, and perimeter monitoring and control on ships in general. The first chapter discusses
the various types of sensors used on ships, such as radar, Automatic Identification System, Global
Positioning System, navigation, compass, and obstacle detection sensors. The second chapter is
dedicated to identifying potential hazards inside the ship, including leaks and climate change, but
also fires with fire detection systems and smoke and heat detectors. The third chapter offers
applications utilizing the Arduino microcontroller, including sensor selection and programming.
The fourth chapter describes system inputs and outputs, with a focus on particular sensors and their
use in the compartments of a submarine. Chapter five describes the sensor placement and
implementation, providing electrical drawings and schematics from sensor placement. Chapter six
discusses perimeter monitoring and control, outlining the application environment and system
functions. The study was carried out in three stages: requirements analysis, practical
implementation, and extensive testing under real-world conditions. The requirements of the system
were thoroughly examined, the overall operation was examined, and extensive tests were conducted
to evaluate its behavior. Overall, the paper emphasizes the significance and applicability of the
presented topics in the shipping industry. The work aims to design and build a parametric monitoring
system for the spaces of a submarine using the Arduino microcontroller, providing vital information
about the state of the compartments.
