Εταιρική κοινωνική ευθύνηAbstract
The present Master’s thesis investigates the issue of Corporate Social Responsibility, a term that is directly related to the sustainability of businesses and is a constantly evolving field of research and study, which is booming in modern times. If it were possible to give a vague definition of the concept of CSR, it would be that CSR is the verbal or non-verbal, voluntary commitment of modern companies to contribute to improving the quality of life of their employees, their customers/users and the wider society in which they operate, while at the same time ensuring the economic, environmental and social development of the environment in which they operate.
This means in practice that the relationship between companies and society is a two-way street and a deeply interdependent one, and therefore companies (public or private) must recognize their responsibility towards the environment in which they are based. CSR/ESG will play a critical role in how the built environment is managed in the future. There is now a growing momentum, driven by asset managers, consumers, and employees, demanding transparent, purpose-oriented business practices that are aligned with their own priorities.
In this Master's thesis, the concept of CSR will be studied in depth, a brief historical review of the evolution of this concept will be made, the main characteristics that make up this concept and the areas of application of CSR will be analyzed, performance indicators and criteria and methods of control will be studied, we will see how CSR works as a tool to combat crises and what is the link between CSR and business management and marketing. Finally, through examples of companies that apply CSR, a PowerBi analysis will be made, and the corresponding conclusions will be given.
Finally, it is worth noting that the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has given companies the opportunity to reassess almost every aspect of their operations and thus consequently, their compliance with ESG standards has intensified since the pandemic, as governments are now committed to a "green" recovery.
