Personality has been the subject of extensive study in the field of organizational psychology as it systematically influences how people behave in their workplace. This dissertation explores the relationship among three variables in the workplace. The first variable is philotimo as a characteristic of personality, the second is employee disappointment and the third is regret. The research aims to understand the relationship between these variables and assess the extent to which philotimo influences feelings of employee disappointment and serves as a precondition for regret. Data for the research were collected through an electronic questionnaire answered by 243 adult participants from various employment sectors within the Greek territory. Participants were questioned about the philotimo-related characteristics of their personality and the type of emotional relationship they have developed regarding their current job, in terms of disappointment and regret. Results indicated that philotimo is not influenced by negative emotions and events. Moreover, the dynamics of employee disappointment have consequences on an individual's psychology, and there is a substantial likelihood of regret following a sense of disappointment. In conclusion, theoretical and practical limitations are discussed, and suggestions for future research extensions are proposed.
