Museums in the past, to the present and the future, play an important role both in art and in society. As art and society evolve, these changes must also be reflected by museums, and their structures. Museums are interconnected with culture, tourism, technology and economy. In this essay, the concepts of culture and museum are explained, through a literature review the term "digital museum" is discussed, and examples are given from Greece today. At the same time, it discusses the role played by social media in the development and strengthening of cultural education and museums and which are the ways and the tools to digitalize a museum concentrating on the Archaeological Museum of Piraeus.
