The current thesis was designed in order to study the effect of leadership styles at teachers’ job satisfaction in Primary education, the leadership styles that are mostly used by principals and the factors that generally affect the teachers’ job satisfaction. This thesis is divided into two parts. The first part is a theoretical approach of the currently studied subject, thoroughly based on existing literature. The second part includes the findings of the quantitative research. 154 teachers of Attica’s Primary Schools filled a 45 - item questionnaire about Multifactoral Leadership and a 20 – item questionnaire about Job Satisfaction. Research results indicate that transactional and transformational leadership styles are the most common leadership styles that are used by Greek principals. The findings, also, suggest that Greek teachers prefer to work with transformational leaders and that job satisfaction is correlated with factors such as the kind of the profession and the relationship with students and other colleagues. Besides, job satisfaction levels differ between teachers of the opposite sex. Last but not least, there is a necessity to emphasize that more research on this subject should be conducted.
