The people of the organization or business are the ones who will define its operation and effectiveness, they are the ones who will proceed to the necessary actions so that each organization is as close as possible to achieving its goals. The last few years, which are characterized as the age of information and technology but at the same time of the continuous multilevel crises, are also characterized by constant changes in everyday life. These constant changes, combined with the instabilities that have come in recent years at economic, professional and social level, are factors that turn organizations and businesses to invest more in the people on whom their operation relies, in order to achieve their sustainability and stand up to competition. The human resources department is department and function that counts many years in businesses and organizations, helping them to organize in an effective way from the beginning of business creation, until the modern era of changes and economic instability, helping them to gain the most demanding competitive advantage. In this thesis, the concept of human resources, its importance and necessity for businesses as well as the evolution of the operation of human resources over the years for businesses and organizations will be analyzed.
