This research paper aims to identify the perceptions held by secondary education teachers regarding the development of social and emotional skills. Specifically, the paper consists of Part A, which includes the literature review on the field of skills in general, but also specifically on social and emotional skills in the educational context. Part B, presents and analyzes the conducted research. The research data was collected using a questionnaire method, with a total sample size of 113 individuals, and the questionnaire was divided into three parts. In the first part, the "Good Teacher's Assessment Scale for Emotional and Social Skills" was used to examine the teachers' perceptions of the importance of these skills for themselves. In the second part, the "Wang Law Emotional Intelligence Scale" was used to identify the teachers' perceived emotional intelligence. The third part includes some clarifying questions aimed at better analyzing the research. The conclusion of the study is, that modern secondary education teachers recognize the significant importance of acquiring social and emotional skills, while also possessing relatively high levels of perceived emotional intelligence. It is also worth noting, that a phenomenon was observed in the teachers' opinions, namely, that the State does not encourage them to attend relevant professional development seminars.
