In the present work, a systematic bibliographic review is attempted on the criteria on which the various classifications of video games were formed in the last two decades, in an attempt to present their evolutionary course in time, their differences, advantages and limitations. The types of interactivity, the mechanics, the subject, the spatial development, the aesthetics, the visual style, the psychological effects, the learning outcomes, the perceptual benefits, the experience of the game have been at times taxonomic criteria.
All the proposed classifications emphasize one element, degrading some others and proving the complexity of video games, but also the divergence between academic research and commercial terminology. Next, the type of adventure game is examined in detail, in terms of its history and characteristics. Despite the discrepancies in the theoretical classification propositions that have been submitted so far, the type of adventure seems to be an example of stability and clear demarcation. Despite its long lifespan, or perhaps because of it, adventure as a species has crystallized its characteristics and is easily distinguished from other species, maintaining firmly one of the first places in the preferences of the public over time. In the creative part, working examples of the used gamemaker platform are provided, the adventure game created under the title Last minute hero is presented in detail and the process of writing the code and configuring the game is analyzed.
