The purpose of this dissertation thesis is the proposal of remedial actions for the amelioration of the Supply Chain efficiency for the procurement of spare parts and attachments for an enterprise which imports non-road mobile machinery.
The author is currently employed at the enterprise’s spare parts sales department and receives complaints from dissatisfied customers due to problems in its Supply Chain. A crucial to the machinery demanded spare part may not be immediately available at the on-hand inventory. Additionally, the supplier frequently dispatches a different spare part than the one initially requested. Finally, due to heavy workload and poor coordination, many orders are dispatched to customers via a different shipper than the one indicated.
The remedial actions that are inextricably linked with the supplier’s inefficiencies can be applied mid-term. The majority of the proposals is related with Inventory Management and Last Mile Distribution. Concerning Inventory Management, analytical calculations took place. Regarding Last Mile Distribution, the conclusions drawn are mostly qualitative due to non-availability of the essential primary data. There is room for further study in various topics (record of spare parts shortages and obsolete inventory with higher accuracy).
The efficiency of the proposed remedies can be evaluated only after their implementation. Additionally, the flawless cooperation among the stakeholders in the Supply Chain and the lack of mistrustfulness and reluctance to apply the recommended remedies are the prerequisites for their successful application.
