The transition to the post-Covid era is characterized by technological developments that concern all sectors of the country's economy. Digital transformation is one of the EU's key priorities, creating new opportunities for businesses and organisations, and helping to optimise processes. One sector characterised by rapid change is the sports sector, with emerging growth opportunities, and the digital transformation is the main key of success for next years.
In summary, some of the areas of digital development of a sports organization or a sports facility are related to the expansion of the media that communicates with its audience-"customers", the digitization of sponsorship activities and investment in the digital transition. In order to achieve the above examples, it is necessary to upgrade traditional procedures and tasks with training and support of all departments (employees, athletes, coaches, managers, parents, suppliers, sponsors etc.).
Therefore, this diploma thesis examines the digital maturity of organizations for digital transformation, and their preparedness with the outbreak of the pandemic by analyzing the steps and processes of digital transformation. Compared to Europe, Greece is in a low growth regarding digital skills. At the same time, the digital transformation actions in Greece in the era of Covid-19, and more specifically in the field of sport, with the challenges and benefits created throuth pandemic, are analyzed.
It also presents the case studies of sports organizations and facilities in the era of Digital Transformation, and business strategies, in the new era of digitalization.
