Training of secondary school teachers in teaching mathematics using ICT with the support of mentors

In secondary schools and specifically in the mathematics course there is a need to integrate ICT. Mentoring helps to overcome barriers and difficulties in achieving this integration while it can also raise the levels of the other two components of TPACK, namely content and pedagogical knowledge, in teachers. This research was done quantitatively and by sending questionnaires to mathematicians of each type of school. We received 86 responses in total and concluded that there is an acceptance that the use of digital tools would provide facilities to the teacher, help students to understand concepts and improve the learning process. In addition, our conclusions show that for teachers it is time-consuming and difficult to move from a traditional course to a more modern one using ICT and that guidance from an experienced mentor would play a decisive role in removing specific difficulties.
