The purpose of this thesis is to examine strategic management in start-ups, with particular emphasis on the development and implementation of strategies that enable these organizations to achieve their goals and objectives. In the first chapter, we provide a comprehensive overview of strategy and strategic management including key concepts such as SWOT analysis, business model innovation and competitive advantage. We also discuss the role of the CEO and leadership team in shaping the strategic direction of the organization. The second chapter of the dissertation focuses on the differences between startups and established organizations, highlighting the unique challenges and opportunities startups face. We explore the factors that contribute to the success or failure of start-ups throughout their life cycle, including the ability to adapt to changing market conditions and the importance of building a strong team and culture. The third chapter presents a case study of Blueground, a real estate startup. We analyze the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Blueground's business and how the company has responded to these challenges by developing and implementing new strategies. Through this analysis, we aim to provide insights and practical recommendations for startups seeking to develop and implement effective strategies in the face of uncertainty and change.
