The subject of the master's thesis is the ruined Tower of Naillac in the eastern harbor of the Medieval Town of Rhodes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The main purpose of the work is to develop a 3D digital model of the Tower in the SketchUp software and then transfer it to the Unity game design platform, where a navigation environment, in and around the building, was developed for a first-person experience. It also establishes the importance of new technologies in preserving and safeguarding the lost cultural heritage since there is no other way for these great monuments to remain in our collective memory. Therefore, their visualization contributes significantly to preserving our cultural identity. The modeling process was source-based, drawn from websites such as digital repositories, photographic archives, artistic representations of the lost monument by late medieval travelers as well as contemporary architectural designs, aiming to combine scientific validity and user appeal as accurately as possible. Finally, further potential virtual environments are mentioned in which the first-person walkthrough proposal could be integrated.
