Tourism is an activity that is related with many fields of economy worldwide. Its description, as an extremely versatile sector, which comes from the fact that requires contribution of economic, social, cultural, and environmental data. A lot of people around the
world are employed in the tourism industry, with its impact on world socioeconomic life
being huge.
For Greece, the tourism sector is one of the most important industries in this country
since its contribution to employment and GDP formation makes it necessary for the economic prosperity of the state. It is a fact that Greece is a favorite destination, with the
current political leadership and the competent bodies constantly looking for development
strategies and further evolution of the industry.
The intent of the present master dissertation is the analysis of Italy as a country of origin
of tourists in Greece and the prosecution of predictions, with the aid of a program, of
incoming movement of Italian tourists in our country the following years.
It consists of six chapters, in which Greek Tourism is initially analyzed by mentioning
data on its effects on the socioeconomic life of the country while afterward the relations
of Greece with Italy are recorded, starting with the first years of antiquity, and ending
nowadays and the multilevel cooperation of the two countries. This is followed by predictions of the arrivals of Italian tourists in the following years, with the aid of a program,
taking into consideration the number of arrivals of Italian per month of the previous years,
drawing data recorded by the National Bank of Greece and the National Statistical Office.
In the end, the conclusions of the study and the suggestions of the tourism policy for
development and evolution of the Greek Tourist Product are expressed.
