Digital transformation in retail. The case of Greece
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the meaning of Digital Transformation in order to understand, how important process is for all the enterprises and sectors. It is an issue that concerns all organizations and they should not make light of this, so that they can maintain a competitive advantage and remain viable. The digital era has already come, but we are still at the initial level, especially in Greece. However, we would be concerned about the changes that are going to take place in the near future and be prepared for them. The process of digitization is a difficult and also a complicated case. Essential requirements to meet the digital changes are some large sums of money and certainly qualified staff who will be able to pull out the task. Due to this time-consuming process businessmen must be patient and collected. As for this paper, we will focus to the digital transformation and its development in our country. Comparing Greece with other countries, we can safely conclude that it is not particularly adapted to the digital era because the process is still at an early stage. In the last part, to understand better the concept of digital transformation, we will go through a Greek company which has integrate the process. The industry which was studied was the retail and the business which was selected was Supermarkets Sklavenitis SA. Applying digital conversion, in a company known to all of us, it is easier to understand the issue of the project and reach some general conclusions.
