In this paper we try to study the phenomenon of Microfinance. In the first chapters we see how this theory began and in what terms it was transmitted. Following are examples of various underdeveloped countries as well as financial systems set up to support borrowers from poverty as well as microfinance in the developed world such as the US, Canada, Europe and finally its recent example, Greece. We then examine the implications of a variety of individual and group loan mechanisms for investment decisions within a controlled laboratory by comparing individual and group lending, and finally list a three-player microfinance game from the safest to the most risky.
