In this dissertation, the obligations of social networking app content managers are clearly determined. Moreover, the legal framework related to content managers is explored, as well as the cases in which they bear or not bear responsibility for the content found in these apps.
The user’s role is analysed, along with his/her rights as a member of each individual web community where he/she has created a profile. A detailed analysis of the major points of the terms of use of the three most popular social networking apps is sought, since the user agrees to and abides by these terms when using and navigating through the application following the creation of a profile.
Finally, the dissertation concludes with a case study on facebook privacy in accordance with the Greek law, the US law and the EU law.
