The main purpose of this thesis is the collection, presentation and analysis of data defined in the study of ballast water management treatment of cargo ships in shipping. So, in order to consider this survey appropriate and representative as to the factors that are being examined, the main body is separated on three (3) chapters. In the first chapter is analyzed the use of ballast water in shipping, in the second chapter is referred to the Treatment methods of ballast water and in the third chapter are listed the basic elements of a Techno-Economic Analysis of the methods for Processing Marine Ballast.
