In this study we try to analyze the importance of Green Buildings in global economy and environment. The economic crisis which started in United States of America in 2008 and later extended to the rest of the world is forcing households and businesses around the world to rethink their strategy. The crisis coincides with the global climate change, the consequences of which are more obvious over the last decade. This fact proves that the economic development should be combined with the protection of the environment and the effort to gain all the advantages that those strategies offer. The Green Buildings play a key role in this effort and in the near future their standards will become binding regulations for the most countries. The benefits of using such kind of buildings worth more than any difficulties arising during manufacturing process. The most important factors for all stakeholders are education and information, particularly in economies based on obsolete practices and standards, like the Greek one. KEYWORDS:
