This diploma study examines the morphology of the Greek banking system, highlights its particular characteristics, and attempts through the framework of the international financial crisis, to highlight the implications for the operation. The first chapter describes the Greek banking system by joining EMU from 2000 until the advent of the financial crisis in 2009. Subsequently, it is described the Greek banking system in the period 2010-2014. Finally it is analyzed the PSI. In the second chapter is examined the transmission mechanism of monetary policy and the bank lending channel. Specially, is analyzed the traditional interest rate channel, the exchange rate channel, the channel values of the assets and the bank lending channel. The third chapter describes the full features of the Greek economy while presents several indicators on the state of the banking system. The fourth chapter focuses on the construction of a Greek GDP forecasting model by the volume of loans granted by Greek banks in the Greek economy. It is examined the stagnation of time series, calculated the number of lags and then the predictive model is created.
