This thesis is an attempt to reflect the relationship between the Greek banking system to the phenomenon of market abuse in the current economic environment. We present relevant economic data and review recovery prospects for the near future, which are important to the banking system and the overall economy. Additionally, the definition of market abuse and instructions for combating it are presented. Further out we detail all the sanctions faced by individuals who participate in market abuse acts and all precautions taken by the competent authorities to combat this phenomenon. There is a discussion of the SEC as the competent authority in our country and the actions and preventive measures it must take, always with the cooperation of the European authorities and we provide examples of past actions taken against the phenomenon of market abuse. Finally, the last chapter of our dissertation concerns the research piece on the phenomenon of market abuse. Evaluating the responses to a questionnaire that was designed exclusively for the specific task we found fairly useful conclusions on the relationship of the domestic banking system to the phenomenon we are examining. These findings emerged through special treatment and after it was used and statistical data analysis package SPSS. More specifically it reveals a very high level of knowledge of market abuse, both in terms of financial institutions as well as the app liable low. They state that they are knowledgeable of different cases of market abuse and if they had known about it they would have informed people involved. The financial institution have to improve the different training programs which at present play a dominant role. Finally they judge satisfactory the partnerships between the financial institutions.
