Electronic games constitute teaching environments that have the ability to help and support all teaching principles while motivating the students’ participation by offering them an obviously pleasant learning environment via which they interact with their classmates individually or cooperatively. Young primary school students need to express themselves creatively as proven in action. Therefore it is important for the teacher to form an appropriate learning environment to attract their interest and stimulate their curiosity. Of course teacher’s ultimate aim is to bring students together so that they can co-work in order to collectively accomplish each given activity. In this master thesis we studied the utilization of Game Maker for teaching the lesson "Programming the computer" to Primary school students, that results in transferring knowledge to students regarding programming, promoting collaboration between them, increasing their mobilization and improving their attitude towards the lesson. Game Maker's environment allows young students to construct their own knowledge and feel the joy of creation. Utilization of the environment in Primary School may have beneficial results only if students work systematically in teams in front of the computer and we have prepared them accordingly. Therefore creating digital games with Game Maker introduce students to programming and familiarizes them with basic skills and computer operations. Additionally, teachers are able to create digital learning games with Game Maker and utilize them in the classroom.
