In this paper, using the educational simulation software “Algodoo”, we designed a comprehensive training material specific to the course "Elementary physics: investigate and discover." The educational material consists of training scenarios, which refer to the sections "Speed", "Mass", "Density", "Friction", "Hydrostatic Pressure" and "Light", and of the corresponding activity sheets The educational material was applied to a Greek primary school (4th Primary School of Drapetsona) during the school years 2011 - 2012 and 2012 – 2013, in order to examine the appropriateness and effectiveness. The evaluation study was conducted using questionnaires. Specifically, questionnaires completed by both the participating students and some teachers who studied the software Algodoo. Furthermore, the educational software was evaluated taking into account the students' opinions about the difficulty of the questions included in the activity sheets. The results of the study showed that the simulations that students watched were very helpful in understanding the phenomena under consideration, while the majority of students showed great enthusiasm. They also, increased student interest for the subject of physics, and students expressed their desire to participate to other courses with the help of similar educational softwares. The participating teachers, also showed a positive attitude towards software Algodoo, which find it easy to use, with good aesthetics and appropriate for the students' level of primary education. Finally, the problems encountered were mainly in the limited time available and the non-coverage of all the subjects of the physics.
