Educational robotics is an innovative learning method, which in the recent years has become part of both the worldwide and greek educational community. The ability of educational robotics to turn learning into a pleasant, playful and interesting process, while developing trainees' critical skills of the future, turns it into a pole of attraction for a large number of students each year. Therefore, it becomes clear that there is a need for appropriately trained staff, with knowledge on educational technology, who will be able to sustain the teaching of this complex subject. In recent years, several academics and educators through a variety of programs have contributed to educating teachers in a range of educational robotics tools. The educational scenario included in this thesis is aimed primarily at teachers who want to acquire knowledge of the Lego Mindstorms Education EV3 educational package and the Lego Mindstorms Education EV3 Software programming tool, with the ultimate goal of acquiring basic knowledge of educational robotics and programming. It introduces the concept of educational robotics by building a robot using the contents of the Lego Mindstorms Education EV3 educational package and by programming it, using basic robotic commands from Lego Mindstorms Education EV3 Software. Trainees must construct and program step-by-step a robot-transporter able to move two predetermined objects to two predetermined areas. By this way they are called to address and solve a real problem inspired by everyday production processes, which is product transportation.
