The purpose of this master thesis is to study the process – oriented e – learning systems, the e – learning workflows and the development of an e – learning system through the use of the workflow technology.
The thesis presents the advantages of this technology as well as the characteristics and the possibilities which they provide. It also presents the development of a process – oriented e – learning system and directs to dyslexic and non – dyslexic students. The purpose of this thesis is to provide teachers and students with help, so as to have a teaching process that directs to their needs. Through the workflow environment, the teacher is able to add or remove academic material, choose the way of evaluation and give the students the ability to work in their own pace.
The development consists of the primary instruction of the new lesson, as well as exercises for formative evaluation and tests that are either preassessment or summative. Using the principles of Mastery learning, the teacher creates a lesson, hands out exercises that are either group – based or individual, enrichments for those who succeed and alternative instruction for those who still need extra help.
The workflow system is developed through Oracle’s BPM, using exercises and material from the books that are used in schools. The exercises used in this lesson are created so as to refer to the needs and characteristics of each student.
