This dissertation discusses the case of Moodle, a Learning and Evaluation Management System(LEMS) software package, its administration by user “Admin User” and the presentation of a Moodle e-course example, including students’ evaluation.
Particularly, informational elements are mentioned, regarding changes to educational process caused by Information and Communication Technologies(ICT) and the role of Learning and Evaluation Management System(LEMS). Afterwards, the case of Moodle free software-open source package is presented and the complete guide of Moodle v.2.9.2+ built-in Admin User handbook is provided, focusing in its security settings. Finally, the Moodle e-course entitled ”Military Forensics Lab for Microsoft Windows OS Computers“ is expanded, along with the evaluation process through the relative evaluation tests execution.
This dissertation contributes to, technologically supported, distance learning of the professional military personnel of Greek Army(land forces), under a secure e-learning and automatic evaluation environment, aided by ICT. This is of high value, taking in consideration the importance of military personnel, generally greek Armed Forces, training-education for their mission completion, the plethora of, all kinds, periodical training activities-courses and the great dispersion of greek military units all over the Greek territory. Meanwhile, it contributes to high cost saving due to elimination of financial compensation-transport-living expenses of trainees. Finally, it leads to the extinction of problems, related with the living conditions inside military activities location.
