Abstract

The Master thesis concerns an IT inventory management application. The application has been developed using Django REST Framework and MariaDB MySQL for database schema. The application has been implemented for web environment. The purpose of the application is the management of computer hardware and peripherals present in the inventory of an IT department. To achieve this, the application contains grids for registrating the objects and their essential characteristics, having them divided on core categories. The categories created are memories RAM, hard drives, monitors, printers, peripherals, cables. Apart from the characteristics, each object has its own QR Code and its guarantee. Moreover, there is user and workstation maintenance with personal computers and matching users. In each category there are corresponding diagrams for visualization of materials stored in the inventory. With the use of QR Codes the IT department can be updated with information for each object and the guarantees maturities program produces output for optimal management of computer equipment. Except of the implementation of the application, a research was made in order to study similar applications and compare them with the one of the Master Thesis. It was observed that while similar solutions were offered, either did not have all the features of the application, or they were solutions with great cost, targeting relatively large companies. The application of the Master Thesis is created for companies that do not consist of more than 20 people, cannot afford any respective amount and want to manage the IT material without any required equipment such as barcode and can manage the material computer remotely, even with a mobile control equipment aid.
