Maritime circles are the successive stages of development of the shipping industry. Are an integral part of the latter, hence their study is considered necessary for the understanding of the shipping industry. The creation of these cycles, as well as their characteristics, do not remain unaffected by the global economic developments. The fact is that shipping is a vital part of both the global and the local economy in many countries. Therefore, the financial crisis, it would be paradoxical to not interfere.
International economic developments, which began in 2008 and continue nowadays, confirm, unfortunately in a negative way, the subordinate relationship that exists between the course of the global economy and the progress of the shipping industry. The last decade is the worst period covered international trade for nearly 70 years. The adverse economic conditions and new data worked particularly aggravating to fares and the value of ships and to the conditions under which shipping companies are financed now, either from banks or from other sources.
