As a result of the enormous recent development in the field of logistics, various econometrical models have been created for a more efficient administration of the stock inventory to improve the services towards the clients. The need for satisfactory demand forecasting models with the use of time series analysis to improve the handling of the stock and to reduce the administration cost has become essential.
Especially within the field of automobile industry, with the special characteristics of its components, comprises (big storage cost, very competitive market, EU legislation) there has been an effort during the last few years to improve management of the supply chain and the demand forecasting with new statistical methods. In this thesis, at first we will analyze the supply chain and all current methods of administration and equipment in this specific field. Furthermore we will explore the market of the modern automobile industry as it has been transformed within the E.U. At the end we will investigate and analyze the actual elements from the field of spare parts market for automobiles of a particular large automobile industry and apply the real data into theoretical models.
