The LNG market is a rapidly emerging market with many economic and environmental benefits. This paper deals with the parameter of gas transportation and in particular liquefied natural gas. Both the design and operation of LNG ships and the current state of the market are being analyzed with the most recent data and so are its future prospects. Since the market of LNG carriers is inextricably linked to supply and demand of natural gas, there is also, initially, an extensive reference to the global gas market. From the various reports which are analyzed in the work, it becomes clear that the purchase and operation of LNG vessels is growing and in a few years will dominate the global shipping. This comes as a result of the increasing development of the gas market.
