Storytelling through novels and short stories was, probably always, the best way of expression, communication and learning at the sensitive age of first grade of school, worldwide. As technological developments bring to the fore more and more interesting technologies with tremendous features and functions, the established conventional learning models should be struggling to keep up with them and strive to modernize integrating innovative ideas in the learning process. The current thesis is a proposal to motivate and engage children to participate in the learning process through playful interactive educational applications with kinesthetic activities. Such an application based on the English digitized children's book "Cookie Land" of MM Publications, designed and developed using the Microsoft Kinect camera is presented in this thesis. The customization on the needs of the student, the interoperability of the application with computers and touch devices, and also the kinesthetic activities with MS Kinect camera are some of the key features that make this software stand out and seek to provide an alternative to contribute to the development and improvement of basic skills and capacities of children in a fun way.
