This thesis investigates the way employees respond to the workload entailed by the management of their mail box and assesses e-mails impact on their personal and professional life.
Motivation for writing the work, was the rapid change in the communication of employees and interest in exploring the impact this ultimately leads, in the workplace and outside of it.
The first chapter is a short introduction to the subject and a reference to the history of email.
The second chapter is a detailed exploration of the literature on the advantages offered by the use of modern electronic media, particularly of email, as well as their impact on workers. Determine the effect of Email Overload and burnout, and given their potential workarounds. The theoretical approach is completed with the importance of employee satisfaction and how it affects the productivity and sustainability of any business or organization, as well as the ways in which it will be evaluated.
The third chapter describes the empirical research conducted on the management of email, with participants 145 working executives, and considers how they performed. Finally, the fourth and fifth chapter comments on findings and conclusions are outlined and policy proposals.
It is found that the Greek business world are not yet strongly affected by "Email Burnout" and work stress due to e-mail management phenomena, but the issue certainly concerns the global community and seems that interest is increasing rapidly in the Greek labor market.
