This paper discusses the effects of Foreign Direct Investments in emerging economies, focusing on the case of the People's Republic of China. For a long time, China was characterized by introversion and absent by any reference between the countries which attracted significant investment activity such as Foreign Direct Investments. Nowadays, there is a great conversion and the country is making remarkable progress.
From the 1980’s, through targeted state reforms and business environment improvements, the country earned the confidence of both developed countries and investors of constitutes a considerable force in international trade. As a matter of fact, China has become the first “country – Foreign Direct Investment receptor” and the first export power by products that bear the trademark "made in China" having flooded the world.
In this thesis, firstly we will present the theoretical background of Foreign Direct Investments, then we will look for the macroeconomic data of the Chinese state as well as any particularities - weaknesses the country displays. Subsequently, we will study the FDI’s magnification from the beginning of the upswing as the analysis will focus on the 21st century. Simultaneously with the progress of Foreign Direct Investments we will present the specific reforms, the legislative framework and the investment incentives provided by the government to investors. Afterword, we will follow a thorough analysis of “countries – competitors” that have strong similarities with the concerned country. Finally, once it is proofed the FDI’s contributed to the remarkable development of the country and improve its macroeconomic aggregates, it will be presented a relevant model to whether the inflow of Foreign Direct
Investment in the Chinese territory is affected by selected economic factors and considering the statistical significance.
