This paper aims to study and analyze the maritime circles attempting a theoretical approach focusing primarily on literature study and approach. The methodology of the thesis is based on the collection of secondary data, collected through books, journal articles and official websites. The thesis is completed through three chapters. The first chapter clarifies the maritime circles and freight market. The second chapter attempts a historical approach of maritime cycles focusing on the events that characterize them. The third and last chapter analyzes
the recent approaches of maritime cycles focusing on the facts that characterize them. At the end of the thesis main conclusions are summarized, on which the freight market trends do not show a positive image and are expected to continue the downtrend regarding the supply and demand, sales and purchases. The creation of Leadership 2015 by the European Union tends to be a unique action of enhancing shipping and shipbuilding, so that both branches continue to have a future and enhance global economy.
