The present thesis deals with the institution of the " Ship Co- ownership", its historical background based on prerequisites and needs of the performance of shipping and commercial activity in European Countries including Greece, the overture to the current developments of the aforementioned institution and the attempt to extract conclusions following an analysis of the respective current legal and regulatory framework. More concretely, pursuant to the present thesis, the specification of the significance of the "Ship Co- ownership", of its means of incorporation and its legal complexion, the analysis of the current legal framework of " Ship Co-ownership", of its management and operating bodies, the rights and obligations of the " Ship Co-owners" will be ventured to be crystallized. Furthermore, herein under will be specified the management, the powers, the obligations and the rights of the administrator as well as herein under will be analyzed the legal means and options to dissolve the "Ship - Co-ownership". Through the analysis of the current legal and regulatory framework an attempt will be conducted in order for conclusions to be extracted and suggestions for the optimization of the institution of "Ship - Co-ownership" to be improved.
