Abstract
The consequences of climate change are serious for humanity and planet.
Its scientifically proved that climate change is due to human activities according to 5th IPCC study.
Maritime transport is still the most energy efficient means of transport. Climate change directly affects maritime transport through natural phenomena such as the melting ice at the poles, and the rerouting of ships through the Arctic Circle.
Due to the impact of climate change governments are obliged to adopt increasingly stringent environmental laws and regulations governing the emission of air pollutants by shipping.
The purpose of this study is the evaluation of actions taken and applied globally and for marine transport, concerning the reduction of emissions that contribute to climate change.
