Within this present dissertation, interactive educational material, created for the specialty courses of the Engineering and Automobiles sector of the Technical Lyceum, is presented. The creation of the aforementioned material aims to support the teaching of the specialty courses, to contribute in overcoming restrictions and problems within the teaching process of these courses and to improve the relationship - that the majority of specialty technical courses teachers have - with contemporary educational methods and new educational technologies, such as simulation software for educational purposes. The main orientation of this dissertation is to improve the teaching process of the specialty technical courses by attracting the student’s interest, with the effective employment of educational simulation software, leveraging its use as a supplementary teaching tool. Hence, the need of new well-equipped labs and supervisory interactive material within Technical Lyceums arises. Consequently, the present dissertation consists of the research results towards the incorporation of the new information and communication technologies into the educational process, found both in the international as well as the Greek bibliography alike, concerning the use of educational simulation software into automobile engineering teaching. Furthermore it includes the theoretical framework around the educational simulation software development as well as their employment within the educational process. Moreover, a brief description of the educational software Algodoo follows along with a proposition of its incorporation into the educational reality. Finally, an essential part of this dissertation is the educational material developed within its framework. This material is presented in the form of educational scenarios with the use of simulations. In these simulations, simple physics principles and their applications are simulated during the operation on an internal combustion engine and other individual mechanical systems of a vehicle. The educational simulation material is supplemented by supportive educational material intended for the teachers and the students as well as a simulation software manual. The dissertation concludes with a presentation of the results reached after the evaluation of the educational material mentioned above by engineering teachers and educational counselors along with their proposals for further development of the material produced.
