The present master thesis on the one hand attempts to enhance the existing literature on the spatial structure of the income of the Greek regions, and on the other hand to analyze spatially the income of employees at county level, as defined by the new self-governing division of Greece according to “Kallikrates” program. The thesis focuses on applying exploratory techniques and explanatory data analysis to study the average annual taxable income of employees, based on statistical summaries of tax data for the fiscal years 2002-2010 as reported by the Ministry of Finance. The results of the exploratory analysis indicate the perfectures of Kozani and Athens as regions of the highest income. The factors that are associated with the average annual income of the employees are the proportion of graduates of higher education and four of the proportions by sector of economic activity, while the percentage of buildings used primarily as an office or shop has a negative effect on income. Finally, the aforementioned factors are not found to have spatially varying impact on the average income of employees.
