Abstract

The era we live in is characterized by vast scientific and technological advances and its immediate consequence is the massive use of IT products. It is a fact that computers play an important role in our everyday life. We can observe an increased use in workplaces and in education. Especially, when it comes to education, there have been many efforts to modify the learning process. There has been a turn to new teaching and learning methods that catch the students’ interest and make learning fun and entertaining. Many learning software programs have been developed for this cause. The program “Freddy: the foxcub” is an e-learning application that helps with the learning of the English language. In this educational software, a user that will function as the assistant of the student has the possibility to define the content of the program. The user, that can be a teacher of the English language or an adult that has an adequate knowledge of English can define the structure of the learning software through an easy to use application either by choosing from a set of existing exercises or by creating his own. The program is user friendly and can be operated by someone who knows the basic functions of computers and it covers the teaching material of the A junior class.
