In the frames of the present dissertation we try to detail the use of insurance distribution systems, in practice. We will analyze substantially subjects that concern the choice of an insurance distribution channel by an insurance company and the economic theories on which the companies are organized, we will also study the public policy and regulatory issues related to the insurance distribution. Our study focuses on the major economic issues in insurance distribution which concern the distribution system choice, the nature of the insurer-agent relationship with particular area of interest: the structure of agent compensation and the resale price maintenance. We will study the regulatory oversight of insurance distribution activities including the regulations of entry and information of consumers. To continue, there will be a reference to the Bancassurance-led and the Internet-led distribution systems and finally we will complete the study with the quantitative comparison of the insurance distribution systems in the countries of European Union.
