This paper attempts to study and examine the effects of global climate change in the Mediterranean region. It also aims at drawing conclusions regarding the ecological and economic impacts of climate change. The mechanisms which affect the climate and the factors (physical and human) underlying these mechanisms, as well as those that disrupt the functioning of the system are presented and analyzed. More specifically, this report attempts not only to describe but also to identify the role of major factors and their contribution to climate change in the Mediterranean Sea. The Mediterranean Sea has specific features and characteristics and the effects of climate change will affect its ecology, economy and development in a unique way. The results show that the changes occurring to the landscape will vary in intensity and will affect a variety of activities within the landscape. Finally, the analysis of our research findings reveals the wrong practices and attitudes of the past and the necessity to adopt the ecosystem approach when attempting to comprehend the complexity of nature.
