Abstract
This study examines the behavior of arrivals of tourists in Greece using the method of time series decomposition. Initially, the basic elements that describe the phenomenon of Tourism were presented and then, there was an effort to analyze the existing situation of Greek tourism for the last few years including its relationship with the GDP of Greece. Furthermore, the concept of competitiveness for the Tourism Industry and especially for Greece was developed. Finally, using the method of time series decomposition, this study empirically examines the behavior of arrivals of tourists in Greece, using data from 1997 to 2006, and predicts future behavior of tourism for the next three years.
