Abstract
This paper presents an analysis of the strategic planning and operational policies of the two largest manufacturers of large commercial aircrafts: Airbus S.A.S. and Boeing Co.
Competition between the two companies dates back to the early stages of the aerospace industry's development and has intensified in recent years within the sector of ultra-large commercial aircraft (superjumbos).
The analysis of the two companies—covering both their historical backgrounds and their current operational phases—provides insight into a comparative assessment of their qualitative characteristics.
Finally, consideration is given to the decisions and actions of both Airbus and Boeing; these were not merely the result of corporate choices but also stemmed from political pressures exerted during their implementation.
