This paper explores the application of the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) model in the United Kingdom's National Health Service (NHS). Initially, the theoretical framework of the BSC, its dimensions, and its significance in strategic management are analyzed.
Subsequently, the implementation of the BSC in healthcare organizations is investigated, presenting examples and challenges. The NHS, as one of the largest public healthcare systems, serves as a prominent example of BSC implementation, adapted to the organization's needs. The analysis of BSC applications in the NHS highlights the tool's value in improving performance and service quality, despite the challenges it faces. Finally, directions for adapting the model to healthcare organizations in Greece are proposed, taking into account the specificities of the Greek healthcare system. Overall, the BSC is a valuable tool for management and performance evaluation in the healthcare sector, offering potential for adaptation and improvement.
