The thesis examines the feasibility of developing a new passenger transport connection between Meganisi and Lefkada by using the innovative electric hydrofoil vessel Candela P-12. Electrification is highlighted as a sustainable solution and alternative, as part of the broader context of the energy transition and the modernization of maritime transport systems, offering significant environmental and operational benefits. The analysis, revealing a steady increase in demand over the recent years, as well as strong seasonality with peak activity during the summer period, is based on real world data related to the current passenger traffic and the market characteristics of the area. The investment is expected to generate significant positive impacts on both the local and national economy, as it enhances connectivity between the islands, supports tourism development, and promotes more sustainable practices within the maritime transport sector. The results of the financial analysis, which includes the assessment of the financial statements to the evaluation and key performance indicators, show that although the investment requires a high initial investment and generates negative financial results during the early years of operation, it generates positive operating cash flows from an early stage. The payback period of the investment is estimated at approximately 10 years. In conclusion, the investment, despite the initial challenges, presents positive long term potential and can be considered as an innovative and sustainable business model for the transport sector in Greece.
