The maritime transportation of vehicles onstitutes a specialized sector of the global shipping industry and an integral component of the automotive supply chain. However, during the processes of loading, sea transport, and unloading, damages frequently occur, adversely affecting not only the financial performance of shipping companies but also their reputation and competitiveness.
This thesis aims to conduct a statistical analysis of damages based on real data from the period 2023–2024 of Company N, which operates exclusively a fleet of PCC and PCTC vessels. The objective is to derive empirical findings that can support the company in making more informed decisions and developing strategies that will lead to optimal risk management practices.
Therefore, the purpose of this thesis is twofold. It does not merely focus on describing statistical results but also complements them with potential strategic decisions, illustrating how the science of Statistics can be applied with substantial contribution and significant practical value in the maritime sector, while also addressing its relatively limited use to date.
