Abstract

This master's Thesis aims to explore the concept of Ecomuseums , a museological genre with a deep social orientation linked to the principles of New Museology. This genre, although not widely spread in Greece, could thrive in the greek territoy and contribute to all aspects of the country’s culture. The typology of the ecomuseum is examined starting from their appearance in the 1970s up to their current presence in an era when the boundaries between the physical and digital worlds are increasingly blurred. It is then explored how digital tools and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) can play a key role in the design and dissemination of ecomuseums and in the implementation of their vision for Social and Cultural development and holistic sustainability. Finally, the design proposal for a digital Ecomuseum in Laconia Prefecture is presented, following the modern Double Diamond design thinking approach and using digital UI/UX design tools such as Figma and Maze.
