The present Master’s Thesis investigates school principals’, teachers’ and parents’ perceptions in secondary education, regarding the role of school leadership in enhancing the relations between school, family and community as well as their contribution in the students’ academic progress. To support this aim, a mixed methodological approach was used. The quantitative stage contained the sample of 133 teachers from Thessaloniki, whilst the qualitative stage involved semi structured interviews from 10 different school principals and 10 different students’ parents. The composition of the research revealed a perceptual gap; while teachers positively assess their communication practices, parents experience a strict approach resulting from the lack of specialized training in school leadership. Furthermore, the statistical analysis showed a strong connection between the Community Based Leadership and the principals of collaborative practices. Principals who use Transformational Leadership are considered to be multipliers of trust, in contrast to those who insist in using controlling models. At the same time, significant obstacles were detected in educational equality, especially in extroverted actions, which intensified social exclusion. In conclusion, the transition into an open and inclusive school environment crashes into the structural pathogeny of the system. It is highly recommended that teachers are constantly educated, the members of the administration, who specialize in leadership, are reviewed and national care retracts the economical inequality in school activities.
