This master’s thesis investigates the contribution of digital storytelling to the preservation and promotion of cultural memory, focusing on the thematic walk of the Alekos Fassianos Museum in the Agios Pavlos neighborhood of Athens. The research aims to explore how digital storytelling and story mapping tools can function as means of documentation, interpretation, and experiential engagement with intangible cultural heritage. The study centers on the connection between Alekos Fassianos’s artistic work and the urban space that shaped him, highlighting memories, narratives, and traces of everyday life that are not captured in tangible artifacts. Through an interdisciplinary approach that combines theoretical perspectives from museology, cultural informatics, and digital storytelling theory, a digital platform for a thematic walk is developed, based on an interactive map and multimedia content. The research methodology is mixed, including qualitative analysis of cultural data, a case study, and technological implementation. The findings of the thesis demonstrate that digital storytelling can serve as a contemporary tool for cultural management, enhancing audience participation, experiential learning, and the dynamic reinterpretation of place-based memory.
