This thesis examines the issue of inventory management in the publishing industry, a sector with unique challenges and requirements due to the nature of its products (books) and the dynamics of the market. Effective inventory management is a critical factor for the sustainability and competitiveness of publishing houses, as it is directly linked to cost, customer service, and the ability to respond to changing demand conditions.
The study focuses on key issues such as demand forecasting, handling of returns, classification of book titles based on value and consumption rate (ABC and XYZ analysis), and the application of stock optimization methods. Through a review of relevant literature as well as data analysis at through a case study, the research highlights the most appropriate practices that publishing organizations can adopt to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
The methodological approach includes both theoretical review and the application of practical inventory management tools, aiming to evaluate their effectiveness in the publishing sector. The findings underline the importance of accurate demand forecasting, the integration of technological solutions (such as ERP systems), and collaboration with distribution networks.
Overall, the thesis provides specific proposals for improving the inventory management process in publishing houses, while also laying the groundwork for further research in the supply chain of cultural products.
